Included Practice Activities

1. Venn Diagram: 2-4 teams compete to collect the most points before the game ends.  The team that has the most points by the end of the game wins!

2. Fill in the Blanks: Students are presented with a sentence that is missing a word.  They must choose the correct option to fill in that blank.

3. Fix It!: Students are presented with a sentence that has errors in it.  They must correct the error riddled sentences.

4. Odd One Out: Students are shown four words.  Three of these words should be similar while a fourth is somehow different.  They should identify the different word and tell why (if able).

5. Unscramble: Students are presented with a sentence that has had its words scrambled.  They must unscramble the words and either say or write the sentence correctly.  This may also be done with words as opposed to sentences.

6. Adjectives: Students may transform pictures using a variety of tools.  They can then talk about the picture.

7. Either Or: Students are presented two options and the vocabulary words they are learning.  They must sort each picture into one of the options.

8. Taboo: A student comes to the front and looks away from the board.  The class is presented with a vocabulary word as well as a list of words they can't say.  The class (or team) should use their words to help the student guess the displayed word.

9. A-Z Categories: Choose a topic.  Students must try to think of as many words that belong to that topic that start with each letter of the alphabet.

10. Anagrams: Students are shown a sentence or phrase.  They must then use the letters in the sentence or phrase to write new words.

11. Spinners: There are four different options for the spinner activity.  Spinners can be adjusted to fit the needs of your lesson.  They can have four to eight segments and can be turned into a game with stars and bombs if wanted.  The spinner options are:

  1. One Blank spinner

  2. One spinner with words

  3. Two blank spinners

  4. Two spinners with words

12. Fingerplay: Teach your students a fingerplay with this cute prompt.

13. Family Talk: Students can talk about various members of a family in relation to the keywords that you are given.  A family member and two vocabulary words are shown.  Students are presented with a sentence example and must make their own sentences using the pictures shown.  Example: Father likes apples.  Father doesn't like oranges.

14. Word Match: Students are presented with a vocabulary picture and four words.  They must drag the word that represents the picture to the blank space provided.

15. Spinny Sentences: A sentence will spin around and around.  Students should try and read the sentence as it does.

16. Sneak Peak: Students are presented with a sentence but it covered in parts by blocks.  They should try and think of what the sentence can be.

17. Tongue Twisters: Use this prompt to display tongue twisters and have your students read them.

19. Word Web: The classic graphic organizer activity.  A category is given and students must think of words that fit that category.  These words are written and then connected to the category word displayed in the center of the screen.

20. Text Book Display: Display your text book pages using this prompt.  There are various features built in that let you zoom in, zoom out, move and lock the page(s) into position.
